About usIn this

We’ve been running a successful student placement programme here in Brighton since 2012. This has primarily been in our strategic research and analysis team but we’re expanding the programme to cover other areas in our business.

We attract highly motivated and enthusiastic undergraduates from local universities studying all subjects. We’ve previously placed students with maths, statistics, economics or related subjects but we’re open and welcoming applications from students studying other subjects. In return, we provide an interesting and challenging 12-month placement with valuable mentoring training and experience. And it’s paid!

What is a work placement?

You’ll have the opportunity to put your academic skills into practice, develop existing skills, learn new ones and expand your network of contacts. It’s a chance to increase confidence and maturity, which helps prepare for the final year of university and post-graduation.

Typically, the recruitment process begins in November / December and students start with us the following August / September. The usual recruitment process applies and the salary is £15,000 per annum.

You’ll receive a comprehensive induction, regular feedback and coaching / mentoring. Other requirements of the programme include hosting two visits from your university tutor and an end of placement report.

What do I need?

We look for students who have completed their first or second year of university and are looking to spend up to a year in a local workplace to gain some new experience.

For the roles we’re currently offering, it’s often useful if you’re studying subjects like maths, statistics, business studies or economics. This year we are hoping to receive and progress applications from students studying other disciplines too.

We’re after students who are able to analyse complex information, who have a good grasp of statistical concepts, experience of evaluating information, a good command of Microsoft Office, and an interest in government, social policy, regulation, finance or the economy.
