Regulatory approach

Find out how The Pensions Regulator undertakes its activities.

Prohibition of trustees

This section includes a statement on our power to prohibit a person from being a trustee if the Determinations Panel is satisfied that they are not 'fit and proper' person. This is known as a prohibition order.

Regulatory Intervention reports

We are committed to being open and transparent in our activities, which may include publishing Regulatory Intervention reports under section 89 of the Pensions Act 2004 on our considerations in particular cases.

The Pensions Regulator (TPR) has a range of powers that it can use to intervene and help put things right, where necessary. The process used to decide if we will use one of these powers is called a 'determination'.
