Cheviot proposals to seek deficit contributions

FOI reference - FOI-352
Date - 17 February 2025

Request

My request for information is to what person or firm name was actually party to such Scheme from 1980s to closure to contributions in 2002. I understand Cheviot consider they can regard successor businesses as liable to pay contributions if the successor business took over the original employer which participated in the Scheme, but I have been retired for 15 years and am not a ‘business’.

How do I access the information as to which exact employer was ever I. The Scheme? I am guessing from early 1980s Without any evidence as to why a retired individual is being asked to pay thousands of pounds I have no way of establishing what period or employer name this relates to in terms of which employer was potentially part of the Cheviot With Profits (formerly known as Solicitor Staff or Solicitors Clerks pension fund.

Response

Following a search of our paper and electronic records, I have established that we do not hold the information you have requested.

In this case, we would advise you to reach out to Cheviot Trust directly or to whoever wrote to you.
