Role

We are at a moment of significant change for TPR and the pensions landscape – embracing new, innovative ways of working to drive effective regulation and deliver for savers.

The Data Privacy and Compliance team enables TPR in the delivery of its corporate objectives and priorities by providing advice, support and assurance services in relation to:

  • relevant information legislation (UK GDPR, Freedom of Information etc)
  • information security risk identification and treatment
  • the investigation of and response to information related events and incidents

We are looking for a Data Privacy and Compliance Practitioner to provide professional services to the organisation.

You should be comfortable connecting with a range of people; providing sound, well researched advice on a range of issues; and working through challenges collaboratively to enable the organisation to deliver its statutory functions and achieve its strategic objectives in a secure, compliant way.

Responsibilities

You will:

  • identify and advise on the risks that TPR faces in maintaining ISO27001 standards and our statutory obligations DPA/GDPR
  • provide advice and support on all data protection related matters, incidents and risk to staff and managers
  • provide support and enable customers, staff, and members of the public to exercise their statutory rights about their information held across TPR
  • handle requests/queries in relation to disclosure Freedom of Information and Data Subject Access Rights
  • support and enable TPRs change priorities ensuring privacy by design is considered, minimum standards are met, and risks assessments completed

Essential and desirable criteria

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience working in a complex information governance, records management, and risk management environment. Preferred but not necessarily in a regulatory body or public sector organisation.
  • Experience of providing subject matter advice independently but in line with policies, procedures and protocols and own knowledge / area of expertise.
  • Experience of working with a range of stakeholders, applying best practice and techniques.

Desirable

  • Experience of handling requests made under the Freedom of Information Act and/or the UK GDPR.
  • Experience of working with BSI ISO27001 standards.
  • Recognised specialist qualification in Information Governance E.g. Freedom of Information, Data Protection, or Records Management.
  • Ability to understand the legal obligations from statute (including Pensions Acts, Regulation principles and best practice.
