The role

The team

Our development team works within our Agile teams to deliver positive outcomes on a range of projects and programmes for both the organisation, and savers, for years to come. Some of these projects include:

  • transforming critical application into an Event Based Architecture by applying Domain Driven Design principles using the best cloud-based technology
  • building accessible cloud-hosted websites using the newest technologies and design patterns
  • helping to refactor applications
  • working on a cross-industry initiative to consolidate all work place pension information

In this role, you'll be embedded in a development team operating within an exciting and dynamic company-wide technology change programme, which will see the development and delivery of new systems enabling us to support regulatory activity in the business.

What you’ll do

As a Developer, you'll work closely with our experts to:

  • deliver technical solutions to support the business
  • work across all stages and iterations of software development
  • use problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues
  • learn and adopt the organisation’s use of Lean/Agile methodologies
  • maintain a keen technical awareness; continuously learning and developing own skills and sharing with the team

This placement would suit someone who may be studying towards a computer science, STEM or business-related subject or similar.

What you’ll bring

  • A student in penultimate year of study, or undertaking a degree requiring a year-long placement.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal along with an ability to translate business requests into technical asks.
  • Knowledge of working with databases and programming languages (for example, SQL, C#, Python or similar) would be desirable.
  • An awareness of working with Agile values or principles would be desirable.
