Role

Our Digital team is undergoing transformation turning our existing capabilities into a modern, and high-performing digital function with agility, user-centricity and innovation embedded throughout. Our vision is to be a catalyst for pensions innovation and regulatory effectiveness. Using digital, data, and technology to revolutionise pension regulation, making it more efficient, secure, transparent, and customer-centred.

As a Digital Product Owner, you will be at the forefront of innovation, driving the creation and improvement of internally and externally facing services. You will create exceptional user experiences that resonate with our audience. You’ll collaborate with Service Owners and cross-functional teams, turning ideas into reality and ensuring our digital products align with our strategic vision.

As the driving force behind our services, you’ll shape product vision, champion user-centred design, maximize value delivery through data-driven decisions, and advocate for pension savers.

Responsibilities

As Digital Product Owner, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Leadership: Championing the product’s vision, ensuring it aligns with TPR’s strategic goals, envision how digital solutions can enhance the pensions industry and improve user experiences. Motivate teams by emphasizing the significance of their work – how it contributes to safeguarding trillions of pounds in retirement savings. Decision making, driven by data, that is clear, well communicated, while weighing up value against risk.
  • Product roadmap ownership: Creating and maintaining a roadmap that outlines the product’s evolution. Prioritizing features, enhancements, and technical improvements based on user feedback, market trends, and business value.
  • Stakeholder management: Act as a bridge between internal and external customers and multi-disciplinary teams, understanding diverse perspectives and translating them into actionable user needs. Regularly gather feedback from customers, adapting the product based on insights. Synthesize feedback into actionable improvements driving continuous enhancement.
  • Promoting a user-centric approach: Advocate for users’ needs, commissioning user research, analysing data, and ensuring that the product meets their expectations. Collaborate with designers, developers, and testers to deliver user-friendly features.
  • Agile working: Allocate work to the product backlog, allowing the delivery manager to focus on the flow of the Service or Product Team. Embrace an agile mindset, breaking down complex features into manageable user stories. Work closely with the development team during sprints, ensuring timely delivery and quality.
  • Full lifecycle ownership – Ideation, Delivery and development: Identify Problems, shape Design and Prioritise features based on their impact on TPR’s mission and the pensions industry. Consider not only technical feasibility but also the value they bring to customers. Track and measure the defined business benefits tied to the product. Communicate progress to stakeholders.
  • Prioritisation and performance: You balance short-term priorities with long-term goals. Identify gaps in the workstream and recruit key resources.

Essential and desirable criteria

  • Product owner or manager experience: Demonstrable experience as a product owner, being able to define the value of a product, lead teams through the product lifecycle, anticipate problems and constraints, identify risks, and develop strategic, long-term visions and objectives.
  • Technical/specialist knowledge: Familiarity with web and mobile technologies. Proficiency in using digital tools and platforms for product management and collaboration.
  • Stakeholder management and communication: Ability to influence others and work with multiple stakeholders across the organization, through storytelling, varied media and strong relationships.
  • Agile working: Expert ability to coach and lead teams in Agile and Lean practices, determining the right approach for the team to take and continuously evaluating it.
  • User focus: Demonstrable experience in meeting the needs of users across a variety of channels and giving direction on which tools and methods to use.
  • Innovation Mindset: Curiosity, adaptability, and a drive for continuous improvement.
