Role
This strategically important role ensures the quality and effectiveness of audience-centred internal communications and engagement. You will advise and support the CEO and Executive Committee in achieving organisational goals through effective communication with colleagues, fostering positive relationships across the organisation. Leading an internal communications and engagement team, you will develop, deliver, and evaluate integrated, multi-channel communications designed to boost employee engagement, requiring cross-organisational collaboration for maximum impact.
You will craft and implement a cohesive internal communications and engagement strategy with clear success metrics and a strategic narrative, aligning with corporate, people, culture, and digital strategies. This role involves developing creative plans to motivate staff and unify the organisation during significant change. You'll respond quickly to challenges, providing sound advice and judgment. Partnering with peers across Strategy and Communications, you will drive coordinated messaging and ensure internal communications reflect TPR values and corporate strategy. As a strategic leader and experienced manager, you will contribute to continuous improvement and enhance communication channels and solutions.
Responsibilities
You will:
- shape and own the internal communications and engagement strategy for the organisation supported by the delivery of workplans and metrics which demonstrate progress against goals
- secure approval, buy in and support for the internal communications strategy from the Executive Committee and build trusted and credible relationships with senior colleagues including the CEO
- proactively shape responses to challenging situations and suggesting approaches to motivating and engaging the organisation
- provide constructive challenge to senior stakeholders to ensure a transparent, consistent and effective approach to internal communications
- lead a team (1 direct report, team size of 2.8 full time employees in total), resourcing and ensuring right skills are in place to deliver against the operational plan
- set team goals and actionable strategies that align with organisational objectives and help the internal communications team meet agreed targets
- evaluate communication effectiveness in achieving engagement aims and delivering organisational impact
- lead the strategic relationship with senior stakeholders in the business including TPR Board as well as coordinating engagement with key functions across the business
- lead initiatives to drive efficiencies across communication channels and solutions to bring about measurable improvement
Essential and desirable criteria
Essential
- Proven ability of effective leadership and matrix management.
- Experience of shaping and delivering effective internal communications and engagement strategies during periods of organisational challenge or change.
- A record of delivering multi-part, multi-channel, strategic internal communication programmes designed to generate engagement and behaviour change.
- Ability to articulate strategy and provision of strategic direction to a diverse audience.
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Extensive experience of Standard MS office suite.
Desirable
- Knowledge of pensions and regulation.
- CRM / data base marketing (MS Dynamics 365).
- Web analytics and evaluation tools (Google analytics and Power BI).
