Role

We are at a moment of significant change for TPR and the pensions landscape – embracing new, innovative ways of working to drive effective regulation and deliver for savers.

The Data Privacy and Compliance team enables TPR in the delivery of its corporate objectives and priorities by providing advice, support and assurance services in relation to:

  • relevant information legislation (UK GDPR, Freedom of Information etc)
  • information security risk identification and treatment
  • the investigation of and response to information related events and incidents

We are looking for a Senior Data Privacy and Compliance Practitioner to provide professional services to the organisation and support the development of second line assurance activities across our three core areas.

You will have excellent communication skills and an ability to work across a range of senior stakeholders to embed privacy and security by design and default, promoting the positive benefits for the organisation.

Responsibilities

In the role of Senior Data Privacy and Compliance Practitioner, you will have a variety of responsibilities.

  • Operate as a data privacy and/or information security subject matter expert, acting as a point of contact for the organisation to obtain workable guidance and clear, well researched advice.
  • Promote ownership of security and compliance risks across the organisation.
  • Support stakeholders at all levels during periods of change by identifying risks, advising on controls and ensuring alignment with information security standards and legislative requirements.
  • Effectively handle complex requests and incidents in line with the requirements of the FOI and UK GDPR regimes, ensuring TPR meets it statutory obligations and deadlines.
  • Provide lead and coordinate on all Data Protection related matters, incidents and risks to staff and managers.
  • Manage Data Privacy Practitioner’s performance by providing coaching and support to ensure SLA’s and performance metrics are met.
  • Where required, you will act as deputy Head of Data Privacy and Compliance making reporting decisions and be accountable to the Chief Operating Officer.

Essential and desirable criteria

  • Recognised specialist qualification in information security and/or information law (for example, Freedom of Information, Data Protection, ISO 27001 or Records Management).
  • Demonstrable experience working in a complex information governance, records management or risk management environment. Preferably in a regulatory or public sector body.
  • Ability to apply analytical and communication skills across multiple functions to identify, articulate and document key risks, treatment options and suitable controls.
  • Experience of motivating, influencing and leading using stakeholder management best practice and techniques.
  • Experience writing and presenting high quality reports at a senior level.
  • Experience of working with BSI ISO27001 standards.
