We operate a hybrid working model, subject to government guidelines, where regular attendance in our Brighton office is required. Attendance in the office is team and role dependent.

If the answer to these questions is YES then we’ve got the ideal opportunity for you! TPR is a cloud-first organisation, and we are searching for the right person to technical lead across development teams to delivery key critical initiatives whilst retaining hands on development skills.

Our development team works within our Agile teams to deliver positive outcomes on a variety of projects and programmes for both the organisation, and savers, for years to come. This role will focus on the transformation of critical application into an Event Based Architecture by applying Domain Driven Design principals using the best cloud-based technology.

This is a very hands-on technical role, and we are looking for a person with a consistent track record of building enterprise solutions, preferably with Microsoft Azure cloud technologies. We will also provide you with support and further training to keep you up to date with the newest technologies to develop your skills further.

The role will be hybrid with 6 days per months office working in a friendly, supportive team.

Responsibilities

You will:

  • define and help deliver the technical strategy for an important transformation project, this will involve making key decisions to ensure that technology choices, software architecture and tools align with both the TPR strategy and UK government service standards
  • work closely with the Architecture, infrastructure and other development teams and set example for teams through hands-on Cloud, Infrastructure, DevOps, Data and Application development
  • deliver proof of concepts to show how the right patterns can deliver scalable, extensible, resilient solutions
  • use specialist knowledge to ensure that the technical choices and processes used by the development team meet DWP/GDS service assessment criteria
  • successfully deliver technical solutions to support the business. Work across all stages and iterations of software development
  • develop, mentor, coach, guide and improve the technical capabilities of one or more Development teams

Essential and desirable criteria

Essential skills

  • Expert knowledge of modern architecture patterns and knowing when/how to apply them, this must include Event Based Messaging, Domain Driven Design, Microservices and CQRS.
  • Significant experience using Microsoft development technologies including .Net, C#.
  • Excellent knowledge of development methodologies and how to apply them, Agile and Dev Ops principles and values in particular.
  • Extensive experience of development with Microsoft Azure SaaS, PaaS plus IaaS.
  • Detailed understanding and experience of web technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Typescript and at least 1 web library/framework, for example, React.js, Angular or Blazor.
  • Thorough understanding of OOD, SOLID principles and GoF Design Patterns.
  • Solid understanding of relational databases and SQL Server in particular.
  • Experience building restful APIs

Desirable skills

  • Working knowledge of Azure Service Bus, Azure Functions and Logic Apps.
  • Hands on experience of applying Dev Ops principles practically including developing CI an CD pipelines in Azure. · Working knowledge of NoSQL databases, for example, CosmosDB.
